Microsoft has released the updated PowerCommands for Visual Studio 2010! This is a handy set of user interface enhancements that add a boatload of features that make developing with Visual Studio so much easier.
Some of my favorites include:
- Insert Guid Attribute: adds a Guid attribute to a selected class
- Edit Project File: opens the MSBuild project file for a selected project inside Visual Studio
- Open Containing Folder: opens a Windows Explorer window pointing to the physical path of a selected item in Solution Explorer
- Open Command Prompt: opens a Visual Studio command prompt pointing to the physical path of a selected item in Solution Explorer
- Remove and Sort Usings: removes and sort using statements for all classes given a project, across all files. Great for cleanup.
- Extract Constant: creates a constant definition statement for a selected text. Get rid of magic numbers and strings.
- Clear Recent File List and Clear Recent Project List
Best of all, they're free!
Last year I was honored to speak at the inaugural 24 Hours of PASS, a community-based, round-the-clock virtual conference focused totally on SQL Server.
This may I'll again do a bigger and better than ever session on SQL Server 2005 and 2008 security, at 20:00 GMT, which is noon my time. As the Web site says, "the roster of phenomenal speakers features many MVPs and PASS European Conference 2010 presenters, including Donald Farmer, Thomas Grohser, Brad McGehee, Rushabh Mehta, and Jacob Sebastian."
You can get more information and register for free at the 24 Hours of PASS Web site.
Oh, just remembered. I'll have a webcam for this event. I'd better get a haircut! I still have my winter coat on. :-)
I'll also be at DevConnections in Las Vegas next week, doing four SQL Server sessions. This is also the Visual Studio 2010 launch event. Get more info at the DevConnections site.
Hope to see you at one or both events!
